243 FOR THREE WICKETS.

GAME ENT>ED BY RAIN.

TmriTDERSTORM: AT BRADFORD

(By Cafrle. —Press Association.—'Copyright.)

(Received 12.30 p.m.)

LOjSTDOjST, June S,

The attendance on the third day of the Yorkshire match at Bradford was small. It rained overnight, and though the wicket was easy, it required constant attention from the batsmen and a liberal supply of sawdust on the bowlers' run.

Crawford, bowling slower tha,n on the first day, showed an improvement on yesterday. He had Collins twice beaten •with a break back. Gregory when 7 ■was badly missed by Douglas at deep point off Oldroyd. Waddington and Oldroyd were not difficult to play, and the score mounted by a succession of singles, with few bigger hits. When he was 73 Collins sent Douglas to leg, the ball going through Oldroyd's hands. Immediately afterwards Collins declared the innings closed.

Collins' knock included nine fours. The I&ustral ian skipper had given a display •i excellent timing.

Gregory and Richardson opened the •ttack in Yorkshire's second strike, which was opened by Leyland and Mitchell. Before the latter opened his ecore he was badly missed by Ryder at fir. t slip off Gregory, nn easy straight Catch into his hands. The batsmen then dug themselves in, and took no risks. Richardson opened with six successive maidens, and the fi —»t nine overs produced only six -singles off Gregory and two byes. When tlio total was 10 rain, •which had threatened nil morning, compelled a halt. Only three more overs were played before lunrh, and during the interval a thunderstorm arrived. The xniitch was then abandoned. Details of the scores arc: AUSTRALIA.
