BRITISH ENGINEERING TRADE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, March 26

Despite the fact that a critical stage in our national economic issues has been reached; so far as the statistical results of the engineering and allied industries for the month of February show, confidence had not by that time ■ been seriously impaired. The expert figures have maintained the favourable though alight improvement of recent months, and this is so, despite the fact that February is the shortest working month of the year. Reviewing the latest available figures of American exports of engineering products, which chow an increase of 20 per cent in 1925 over those for 1924, it is interesting to note that the exports of British engineering manufactures in these years have not lost ground when compared with those of America. It should be borne in mind also that America only exports 10 per cent of her total output. In pre-war days Britain had to find overseas markets for 50 per cent of her products. At the present day the corresponding quota exported is from S5 per cent to 30 per cent.
