NEW SYMONDS STREET OUTLET
(To the Editor.) Sir,—lt is needless for mc to point out to you the wretched state of the carriage-way of Graf ton Bridge to-day, caused by the great amount of traffic passing over it, more so at rush hours ateo the congestion of traffic at the intersections of Khyber " Pass and Grafton Bridge, both in the mornings and evenings. This can be greatly relieved at the will of the City Council. I refer to a street known as Glenside Crescent, on the east of Symonds Street, between Grafton Bridge and Khyber Pass, which is, I believe,, in a direct line with Garlton Gore Road. What ie required is a low "level bridge at the foot of Glenside Civscent, and the buying of private property 'on' the Grafton Road frontage. This would give a straight run between Newmarket .and Symonds Street, thence by East Street to Queen Street. There "can be no two opinions about this new outlet. and it should be considered by the council as urgent, and talk of Civic Squares left till afterwards.—l am, ptp.. H. J. GENTLES.
