WOMEN'S TEMPERANCE UNION.
PROTEST AGAINST-WATERFRONT LICENSE. The annual pay-up social of the Auckland Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the Central Mission yesterday after, uoou, Mrs. Cook presiding. There was a large gathering. A resolution was unanimously passed indignantly protesting against the action of the Licensing Committee in granting the license, on tUe waterfront. The courageous stand taken b.T Mr. Crotten, S.M., was tieartily commended. A letter of appreciation was sent to the Premier (Hon. J. G. Coates) for the attitude tie took in regard to lotteries.
Mrs. Cook heartily welcomed Mrs. Pervnuin, editor of the "White Ribbon!" arid spoke in appreciative terms of her work Recitations were given by Misses Cowlc.T and Morton, and a pleasant social time was s-pent.
