PERSONAL.

Mr. L. W. Fuller, recently manager of P. R. McKenzies, Ltd., Auckland, has arrived in Christchurch to take charge of the Christchurch branch.

Mr. J. Arneil, who has been away on a six weeks' visit to Australia, returned to Auckland this morning by the Aorangi. He was accompanied by Miss Arneil.

Guests at the Star Hotel include Mr. R, W. Wallace (Wellington), Mr. E. R. Morser (Sydney). Mr. A. Waterworth (Wellington), Mr. J. B. Lloyd (Wellington.)

Mr. R. P. Anschutz, M.A., who has been awarded a post graduate scholarship in arts, is assistant-master in the secondary department of the Te Awamutu District High School. He proposes to leave for Great Britain in about two months.

Sir J. Carruthers, the well-known Australian politician, is a through passenger by the Aorangi. He is bound for a sunnier clime to escape the southern winter. The last time Sir John was in Honolulu he interested himself in the restoration of the monument to Captain Cook, and the measures that are being taken for the proper care of the memorial and site.

Staying at the Central Hotel are Mr. IC. H. Carter (Wellington), Mr. C. Ward I (Sydney), Mr. H. Dawson (London), Mr. and Mrs. S. Williamson (Feilding), Mr. and Mrs. H. Golden (Feilding), Mr. and Mrs. H. Collinson (Hastings), Mr. Norman Batchelor (Napier), Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Dunsford (Wellington). Mr. Tom Clarke, assistant editor of the Melbourne "Herald," is on his way back to London, where he will take up the post of managing editor of the "Daily News." Accompanied by Mrs. Clarke, he is a through passenger on the Aorangi. Before he left Melbourne Mr. Clarke was entertained by his colleagues and presented with a gold wristlet watch.
