At the annual meeting of the Beautifying and Horticultural Society, Mr. B. C. Itohblns (president) said that tho borough council had, in addition to voting £25 to the society, provided £75 in the estimates for street planting, and suggested that, to prevent overlapping, the council should be asked to work in with the society. In addition to the committee, officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. C. E. MacMillan, M.P.; president, Mr. B. C. Bobbins; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. S. Harris and A. J. Sladden,; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. T. Clinkard ; honorary auditor, R. L. Thomas. It was resolved that JI scheme for beautifying the frontage at the library be submitted to the borough council for approval.

In a report presented at a meeting ot the Tauranga Klectric Power Board the managing engineer, Mr. L. Mandenp. stated that the hoard's crerjit balances amounted to £31,013. After making provision for all commitments, including interest on loan moneys and for the erection of all overhead line ex-tensions from which there was any prospect of receiving a payable return, the account would be in credit to the extent ot £4283. Unless further new expenditure were authorised, the available funds at the end of the current year were estimated at £4SS3.
