A CHRISTCHURCH RAID.
ALLEGED ILLEGAL BETTING. CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The police on Saturday raided a house in Madras Street and arrested two men, who were charged with keeping a common gaming house, and seven others on a charge of being found on the premises. There were two telephones in the room, and it is alleged that there was also a large quantity of betting material. The men arrested are: Marius Sheridan and Charles Frederick Fearon {alleged keepers of the house), and Harold Nelson, Elvy George Lashmore, Frank Reid, George Turner, Harry Arthur SutclifFe, Percy Chick, and George Henry Adcock. '
