N.Z. NATIVES' ASSOCIATION.
FOR THE GOOD OF THE PEOPLE. The New Zealand Natives , Association held a meeting in Church Street, Onehunga, last evening. There was a very large attendance, and the various speakers were accorded a splendid hearing. Immigration was the main topic discussed, the Association's object being to draw public attention to this matte r . with a view to bringing pressure on the Government to ceaee immigration for the time being owing to the abnormal amount of unemployment in the Dominion at the present time. The speakers were: Messrs. J. V" "v'oade, P. \V. Schramm, H. Oakley Browne, and A. Hall Skelton. In dealing with the aiim and objects of the Association, Mr. Skelton said an attempt had been made by certain interested parties to belittle the work of the Association, and pretend that it was penurious and moribund. Let it be understood, he said, it was the liveliest non-political body in New Zealand at the present time, and the daily increase of its membership was the proof of it« popularity. They were fighting, not for any particular class or creed, hut for the good of the people as a whole. I (Applause.) The speakers were loudly cheered by the big audience as they drove away at \}-lo p.m.
