On the left is the figure-head and a carved ornament from the Elfin, a wooden yacht of 98 ton* and 40 h.p., launched at Chatham in 1819, and broken up in 1901. This yacht was used by Queen Victoria. The central figure is a beautifully carved effigy of Ariadne, which ornamented the prow of the Tcwel of that name. The third figure is borne by the fire-matted barque Kobenhaven, which is still afloat, one of the largest ■ailing ships in the world.
