THE UNEMPLOYED.
LABOUR DEPARTMENTS LIST. The number of unemployed on the waiting list of the Labour Department to-day was 263, and of the number 221 were classed as fit for heavy and 34 foi light work. Labourers figured prominently, there being 110 applications while next on the list were cooks and hotel workers to the number of 27. Since Monday the department found private employment for 18 labourers, five carpenters, three farmhands, a clerk cook, gardener, handyman, painter and plumber.
