HELENSVILLE NEWS.
The annual meeting of the Musical Society was held on Tuesday evening, when the following officers were elected : —President. Mr. W. E. Barnard: vice-president. Dr. Matheson ; conductor. Rev. X. 0. White : secretary and treasurer. Mr. W. Heald; committee. Messrs. Lambert and Pearce, Mesdames Sandin. Pastier. Grey. Wylie, and Miss Wuson. The Society proposes to give a cantata at Its first concert, and also to attempt a play, Bernard Shaw's "How He Lied to Her Husband" being mentioned. The Town Board has been successful in raising a loan of £2SOO to complete the new water reservoir in <;arfield Road. It is hoped that with this new reservoir the town will not be short of water during the tatter part of the summer. A start has been made with the extension of the railway yarls in accordance with a scheme for the improvement of the layout of the yards and the erection of a new railway station. A handsome building has been erected in Commercial Road by the Waitemata Electric Power Board, to serve as a showm.irn and depot. It is expected that elecrrte light will pc available for the town before the end of the year. i ________________■
