QUARREL OVER A GIRL. SEQUEL IX SUPREME COURT. Edward Patrick Brogan (Mr. Beckerleg) pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court to-day before Air. Justice Herdmail and a* jury to a charge that at Auckland on April 13, he did assault Eric Gordon Stites, so as to cause actual •bodily harm and, (2) that he did assault Eric Gordon Stites. For the prosecution Mr. Paterson said that accused boarded with complainant's mother. An argument arose at the tea-table about the attractions of a certain young lady. Accused went to his "bedroom, and as the result of a certain remark, the complainant tried to force the door open. Complainant alleged I that he was then struck with a piece lof wood, with the result that his collarbone was both dislocated and broken. Eric Gordon Stites said an argument arose over the looks of a young lady. Witnessed praised her, and said that not only jockeys knew good-looking girls, but other people as welL To.
