Maveelish and Judge's Box are to go to tho Egmont meeting. Winsome Boy has joined M. J. Carroll's team at Frankton Junction.

F. Stenning has a recent addition to his team at Ellerslie in the shape of a gelding' Ly General Lamont from a Lochness mare.

Jazzy, which wo nthe maiden race at Marlborough, is trained by J. H. Prosser at Porirua. She is a two-year-old filly by Royal Stag.

Scot Free was put over the pony hurdles at Ellerslie this morning and shaped very well for a novice. He is one of A. Julian's team.

Nancy Lee was sprinted at Ellerslie this morning, but appeared to be a bit tucked up after the gallop. When at her best she is a pretty useful sort.

Quaker Oats, by Poitrel—The Quaker Girl, is back on the track at Ellerslie again. He is owned by Mr. E. AY. Alison, jun., who purchased him as a yearling in Sydney last season.

Eonmark is expected to leave Trentham for Hawera to-day in company with Master Peter, Dick and Dubious, in order to compete at the Egniont niest-

Baldowa, which won the Thompson Handicap, has been on the easy list of late, while his trainer, G. Hope, was spending a holiday visit to Otago, but lie may resume road work again next week.

It is reported from Bulls that owing to the wet state of the tracks. J. Morris, trainer of Ngata, Omahu, Brigadier Bill, and others of Mr. Jas. Bull's horses. intends to take his team in to Wanganui right away. From all accounts Omahu and Ngata have been doing good work lately, and Brigadier Bill is also comjng along nicely.

Master Sandstone, which has been an absentee from the racing arena for some time past, is a working member of J. A. Rowland's team at Invercargill, and he is certainly winding up into racing shape, but how he will fare as a starter in public is quite another matter (says the Christchurch " Star " correspondent). He was operated on for respiratory toubles some time ago, but still makes a pronounced noise when galloping.

There was a little jumping over the schooling hurdles at Ellerslie this morning. Prince Abbey (Young) jumped the pony hurdles twice and performed well. Karamu (Rowe) was schooled twice over the big hurdles and jumped well. Brushwood Boy jumped well over four hurdles, while Tapuhi and Royal Fame schooled over six. The former out-jumped his companion at most of the obstacles, but he hit the last one. F. W. Ellis has Geranial, Listening Post, Cassolette, Biblo, Bugle Note and Spean Bridge in preparation for the Dunedin Jockey's Club's winter gathering, and all are progressing favourably (remarks a southern writer). Cassolette was suffering from shoulder trouble when she left to race at the South Canterbury Jockey Club's autumn meeting, but she returned sound and is working as usual. This promising Claronceau— —Charm ilia filly has geen growing up of late and looks like developing into a mare of fair size and substance.

J. AY. Lowe and J. McLaughlin are at present handling their Australian yearlings. Lowe broke his in before leaving Sydney, and he also gelded his Quantock colt (says "The Dominion"). His Trillion filly is a nice youngster, and he could have obtained a profit on his bargain before he left had he desired. The Trillion colt being handled by McLaughlin is quiet and good-tempered, and a very taking youngster on looks. Trentham stables are better off for rising two-year-olds this year than for some seasons.

No. 3 grass track was open at Ellerslie this morning, but there was not much interesting work. Maveelish sprinted four furlongs in 535, Master Doon taking ."il 4-")9 for a similar distance, and; Judge's Box and Lomint, 52 2-os. Town Bank went a round, taking 1.25 2-o for the last six. furlongs, but he was not hurried. Queen Comet also wont a round, the last six furlongs being run in 1.27 1-3. Odd Sox and Festina Len'te ran five furlongs, being joined by Nancy Lee over the last four," the full distance being run in 1.0 4-5. Knighthood worked over a mile and a-half,. the last six furlongs taking 1.24.

The position of private trainer to Mr. W. H. C.aisford, vacated by J. O. E. •lone*, has been accepted by his brother, G. Jonos. who will take over Many Colours. Mime, Serene, Commendation, a four-year-old jrolding by Elysi.in—Catalini, and a rising two-year-old' by Kilbroncy from Fulsome, sister fo Humbug and Epitaph. The change will necessitate new quarters being found for Jones' present team, and it i« understood that the. Hastings trainer, A. Goodwin, will take Battle Knight and one or two more, and that lie lias secured stables at fJreenmeadows to house his ■team. O. Jones' assistant. Gardiner, will probably apply for a license, and he may get some of the others of the present string. Good Sport an dOthan are both likely to have a spell.
