Massey, all Che Ministers of the Crown in Wellington except Mr. Downie Stewart, who was unable to make the journey, to- « gether with many legislators and other '„ prominent people, this morning visited, ;'Jiis grave at Point Halswell. After remaining in the vault for a few minutes, the Prime Minister, the Rt. « Hon. J. G. Coates, laid a wreath on the * monument on behalf of the Government, other wreaths being placed on behalf of the Political Reform League of New Zea- . land and its local branches. No ',; ppeeches were made. So far, the committee in charge of the permanent memorial fund has not met; About £10,000 is now available and an _ early meeting of the committee is ex- '■ pected.
