NEW YORK STOCKS.
FRENZIED BUYING.
(Received 12" noon.)
NEW YORK, April 23,
The stock market has experienced rush trading, with heavy- buying, due to the change in the re-discount. rate. Many stocks went higher than at any time since the recent slump. The opening hour witnessed* frenzied trading. It is believed many buyers have been merely awaiting such an. opportunity as reduced re-discount furnished to re-open campaigns which had their inception during the recent bear market. The greatest activity occurred during the morning, after' which trade was quieter. The afternoon session was comparatively calm with prices generally higher. The total sales were 2,320,000 shares.—(A. and N.Z.) . .
