CRICKET.
At least one cricket critic in England was amused by the heated discussion, that occurred there recently regarding the prohibition against members of the Australian team being accompanied by their wives. Writing in "The Field," this critic says:—"The decision of the authorities in Australia that no member of the coming team may take his wife with him has raised a most amusing storm in a teacup. So seriously are Test matches now regarded that the daily papers have ransacked the libraries find precedents, and even the secretaries of famous literary and other associations have solemnly discussed in the Press the question whether wives ought or ought not to accompany their husbands on a tour. As the Australians have not broken any law of cricket we do not see what their decision has to do with cricketers in England any more than if they had decided that no member of the team may eat sausages for breakfast."
