ALLEGED SLANDER.
DETECTIVES AS PLAINTIFF^.
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. John Henry Sweepey, deteotive, and Francis Michael Cullen, racecourse detective (Mr. Findlay), this morning proceeded against Qeorge MiU?, * K-arangs*.----hape Road grocer and claimed £90 fqr alleged maliciously publishing a statement. Mr. J. W. ■Poynton, S.M. heard the case, *."■.-• ' In the Court, Mr. Findlay said the case had been spread over a period of three or four years, during which *time a great deal of research and inquiry had been carried out. Handwriting experts had been engaged, i{nd he submitted that they were entitled to special costs. He was ready to go on with the case, and cpnipleted e,H matters concerning it. ■.';' I The defendant, however, confessed judgment. The slander alleged was''contained in a letter ajtofc"'-to numerous people throughout NeWFZealand, including Cabinet 3ljqisters. - .
