Eastwood, was sent to the hospital. An Easy Win. Koauau was j favourite for the Kairanga Hurdles. Slump, Matu and Master Peter did the early leading, but on tbe turn tbey were, joined by Comedy Prince, Eonmark ajid Koauau. In the run home the first-named finished best, and won by two lengths. Koauau. beat -Eonmark by half a length, with Sottana fourth. More patiently handled, Comedy Prince won with ease to-day. Eonmark could have been better served by his rider. The racing Master Peter is having will ■ make him a fit horse for the winter. i - . Won All the Way. Quillflre, Eden Hall and Great Day were, best backed in the Lockwood Handicap. Bonideer led air the way, and won by a length arid a-half. It. was a great race for second, Dobbin getting the verdict by a head from Minstrel Boy, which was a similar distance ahead of Great Day and Quillfire. The winner was close, up the -first day, and, was allowed! to pay a. false price. Dobbin ran up to form, and so did Great Day. Quillfire disappointed, but his rider could have helped him more. ' ?'A Good Sort. Euphonium and Polyphemus were evenly supported for the. Stonyhurst Handicap. Polyphemus began best, and led Road Hog,* Star Area,. -Willow Wai and Tiega past the six furlongs post. Road Hog had joined Polyphemus, on the bend, and this pair led Tongatatoa, Star Area, Tiega.'and Euphonium into tlie straight. There Polyphemus drew out, but he was forced to do his best to beat Star Area -by a neck. Euphonium finished fast in third place a length away, just beating Tiega and Road Hog. Polyphemus was nearly caught Snapping by Star Area, which would have been a bigger nuisance had he secured a better passage. Euphonium'was. always ln a bad place, but, when he did : get clear, galloped fast. The weight;, .was too much for Tiega; RoyaJ.'Diadem was sideways on when the barrier lifted, as was Misgovern.

•-Kiosk Surprises. The Currie bracket Motley and Deluge was.a hot favourite .for the Manawatu Stakes." Limited-was : first out, and with a furlong.'gone was in.frqnt from.Tukia, Deluge, Peneus arid Kiosk, with Limerick and Motley off. The order was the same on the bend,.but approaching the straight Kiosk moved up, and Seatown followed him. Tukia was first into the straight, but was immediately challenged 'by Kiosk, which went on and won -by half a length. Tukia beat Seatown bjf* half, a length, with Peneus and Deluge next. The.winner's performance was an outstandingly good one. He just played with the field over the last furlong. Deluge ran badly,;!-while Motley was always last. Limited went fast for half a mile and then stopped,'but Tukia kept on. Limerick was too slow away. He' went to. pull out at the turn, and in doing so all-but knocked Motley over. Seatown ran' gamely, and Should turn out a good three-year-old. ' Favourite Scores. • »
