POLICE COURT.

(Before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.) INDECENCY. William Cahill (41), who committed a grossly' indecent act. was fined £2 or 7 days, "while on a charze of drunkenness he was fined 5/ or 24 hours. ABSCONDED FROM BAIL. James Murdock Bryson (48), against whom there were several charges of theft, did not appear, the chief detective stating that accused had absconded while on bail. However, cabled advice had just been received from the Sydney police stating that Bryson had been arrested there. On the application of Chief Detective Ciimmings, the magistrate granted a remand until April 29. REMANDED FOR A CLEAN UP. On charges deeming them both to be idle and disorderly persons with insufficient lawful means of support, Andrew Stevenson (19) and William Edward Ollis (28) appeared. They pleaded guilty. Regarding Stevenson, the chief detective said that he had been about the town doing no work, although he was an able-bodied young man. Accused, who had once been convicted of theft, was in an unsavoury condition. Ollis was also in a filthy condition. As far as was known he had not been in trouble before. Both were ■ remanded for a week for sentence. In the meantime they will enjoy a clean-up at the gaol. INQUIRIES TO BE MADE.
