TAKAPUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
•i 'The Takapuna Borough Council met last evening.v Present:' The Mayor (Mr. J. D. •Morison), and Messrs. J. W. Williamson, AH. Wilkie, C. Mackley, J. CoUins, F. E. '>>'-' Gaudin, ,G. Creamer, and G. H. Matthews. „ Building Permits.—On .th£ .recommendation of the building inspector twelve permits of a.total value of £5851 "were granted. Of these, five were for" new'dwellings, one for a lock-up shop, and six for additions to premises. ~,.-.-- --. Erection of Boundary .Posts.—Re a 'request; from the Main Highways Board that .'boundary posts- be erected, at' local ibodles' boundaries;oh'all main;highways, tne.Waitemata County' Council. asked it.the council •Was:. willing'- to. pay halt the cost of erecting posts; on.'both' main roads and main', highways, ' the : cost .to-be less the • amount payable by" the Main Highways Board. It was resolved that the .County Council be notified that the council did not at the present time consider the posts necessary. Rubbish Destructor.—The Medical Officer of Health advised that, in his opinion, the establishment of "a destructor for the use of the four boroughs on the North Shore was in" the' best, interests of- all concerned: The officer added that, he hoped local prejudices would not, be allowed; to interfere with a project which was for,the benefit of the Whole. Acting on the recommendation ot' the Public Services Committee, the council decided that no action be taken. ■ Accounts for Payment.—A recommendation from the Legal and Finance Committee that '.accounts totalling £4338 6/ be passed for.payment,, was adopted. ' Purchase of Concrete. Mixer.—lt was decided that a concrete mixer for use in sewerage work be purchased at a price of Sewerage .Connections.—After considerable discussion, it was decided that a fiat rate of £7 10/ be charged for connections to .the sewer main. Post Office Site.—Mr.'W. Blomfleld waited on the council with a view of obtaining litheir support of a petition to be presented to the Postmaster-General, asking that the Takapuna Post Offlce be established at a more central site than at present. It was resolved .that support of the petition be given.
Siilford Affairs.—The Milford Ratepayers' Association asked that the matter of controlling traffic at Milford Road be given con- ■ slderation. It .was decided that the ■ association be informed that the regulation of traffic in that area was now receiving attention. .
