THE ANZAC BANNER.

ITS ORIGIX. After the presentation of the Anzac Banner to the Cornwall Park School yesterday, his Excellency, the GovernorGeneral, Sir Charles Fergusson. said he would like to know who was the originator of the Anzac Banner. He thought it was a splendid idea. About five years ago, the district headquarters of the Returned Soldiers' Association wrote the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association asking them if they would co-operate with the Auckland Women's Patriotic Association. The purport of the letter was to ascertain whether they would combine with the local association in raising funds for .a banner. As soon as this was mentioned, to the association, a movement was started and within a few weeks funds were subscribed by the Women's Provincial District Association for a banner.
