FEBRUARY RETURNS.

WELLINGTON, Thursday.
During the month of. February- the total births registered for the urban areas amounted J to 991, against 1180 ■in January, a. decrease of iB9.
The deaths in February were 430, a decrease of 18 compared with tbe.previous' month.
Of the total deaths, males contributed 228 and females 202. Sixty-two of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 14.39 per cent of the whole number. Forty of these were under one year of age.
