' POOLING OF FUNDS. AUCKLAND WILL OPPOSE. When the executive of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Association .met yesterday attention was drawn to the forthcoming conference of patriotic societies to be held at Dunedin. It was mentioned by Mr. Hortbn that there was to be, he understood, a proposal to pool all the funds of the associations, and he expressed the hope that such a proposal would be vigorously opposed by the Auckland delegates. Mr. Bankart urged that the delegates should be instructed to oppose pooling. • Mr. Hor A .on: We have just about £153,000, and even a Minister of the Crown might not be above setting covetous eyes on that amount. This money, he pointed out, had been subscribed by the people of the Auckland province for the relief of the soldiers of Wd not to be distributed, throughout 3few Zealand. I Messrs.
