VERDICT OF SUICIDE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH; this day. At the inquest on Edward Scott, who was found hanged, in a hut at Rewanui, a verdict of suicide by hanging was returned. The evidence showed that Scott, commenting on the suicide of another miner, said, "It was the easiest way out." A UNIQUE EXHIBIT. In the window of Dadleys, Ltd., toot and shoe store, in Queen Street, is exhibited a certificate and medal fitted with, a plaque. This, handsome award was recently received by Dearslys, Ltd., i Nugent Street, Auckland, from the [ Wembley Exhibition authorities for ! their exhibit at "Wembley of Flexile , brand of shoes. Specimens of these I fine local products are also on exhibiI tion at Dadleys.—(Ad.) j A "practical joke" on two children ' was related to the magistrates at Teddington. Middlesex, England, when ; Allen Hawes, of Teddington, was fined 20/ and costs for assaulting a little girl. She and a companion were singing j carols outside Hawes' house when he i came out, and some pennies fell to the ; ground. A girl named Teague picked one up and put it to her face, with the result that she was burned. Hawes said he heated the pennies for some , boys, and when he found girls were i singing , he let them fall to the ground. The chairman described Ms conduct aa J callous."
