OFFER TO MR. THEODORE.
A.W.U. ORGANISES. I ! SALARY. £1000 A TEAR. i BRISBANE. February 10. Mr. E. ("J. Theodore. ex-Premier of this has been invited by the Queensland branch of the Australian Workers' Union to accept a position as political and industrial organiser, at a salary of £1000 a year and expenses. If he accepts he will be Labour's campaign director at the forthconinsr State elections. Mr. Theodore has had a close association with this organisation for many yrars. and no-.v that the Australian Railways Union has shown itself a formidable rival in the industrial field. and a possible menace to Mr. Theodore, Mr. Mr-rormark and other leaders in the industrial sphere, the A.W.U. has decided to check the onward rush of Messrs. Ttvmer and Moronev.
Despite assertions to the contrary, the political leaders did not emeTse from the Pourhport Convention with the clory thov anticipated, hence their concern.
MY. Theodore has not yet made any definite decision, hut those in position to know are confident that the ex-Premier will be the party's campaign director. The Ministry is said to feel the need for support in its battle within its own ranks as well as ajrainst the Nationalists.
A recently-published report stated that Mr. Theodore had been offered and would probably accept a lucrative position in a larjre commercial organisation.
