President of the Chamber of Deputies, the House by 264 votes to 246 adopted a Socialist amendment to reduce the credits for the military operations Syria and Morocco by 1.000.000 francs. The object is to terminate these operations as soon as possible.— (Reuter.) , A CUSTOMS INCREASE. PARIS, February 27. The Customs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies has approved the Government's proposal to temporarily increase the Customs duties on the mini- i mum tariff by 30 per cent. The object j is to counteract the effect of the depre-1 ciated currency and to protect French i nroducers.— (Reuter.)
