ANTHRACITE MINERS IN U.S. A FIVE! TEARS' AGREEMENT. -WARMTH FOR WINTER. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) PHILADELPHIA, February 12. The anthracite coal strike was virtually settled on Friday afternoon, when an announcement was made that the proposition to return to work on a fiveyear agreement was formally approved by the miners in joidt conference here with the owners. The Labour Department has confirmed the announcement made on Friday by Governor Pinchot of Pennsylvania that the anthracite coal strike in that State has been settled. Mr. John J. Davis, Secretary of Labour, says: "The wages are to continue at the present level, with provision for opening negotiations within the industry whenever either side desires."— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
