ACROSS THE POLE.
THE WILKINS EXPEDITION. PARTY LEAVES ALASKA. NEW YORK, February 12. The supply party in advance of Captain G. H. Wilkins' trans-Polar expedition Btarted from Menana, Alaska, yesterday, on the first stage of the journey to Point Barrow supply base. The party will follow the Tanana River for 35 miles, and will then turn the revolving drums of their snow-motors to the overland trail across the Endicott Mountains. The sledges are loaded to their capacity "with 15 tons of supplies. The weather is ideal, and the temperature is lOdeg below zero.—(Reuter.)
