(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) * DUNEDIX, Sunday. Charles Purdy (Auckland) defeated Les Murray on points in a oatchweigbt contest last nisbt. The match was a beautiful exposition of HCientiflc boxing. clean throughout, and almost devoid of clinches. It was a fairly even bout, but Purdy's proved a valuable asset against his shortarmed opponent. Tho result was a surprise in Dunedin, as it wns generally expected that Murray would win and there are some who feel the result should nt least have i.een a draw, though they are in a minority.
