AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET.
THE WEEK REVIEWED. PRICES FIRM, BUT FEWER SALES. The Auckland Stock Exchange closer! from the third call on Thursday and resumes next Monday morning. This I means one day and a-half less to transact business. During the week X.Z Breweries were a shade easier, selling at I ->9/0, and are now offered at 00/ with ; buyers a shilling under that figure. ; Staples Brewery .shares were plaee7l at 40/3, after which the buying figure dropped to 39/0. Transactions took place in I National Bank of Australia paid'issue at £17 13/0 and contributing at £8 10/ and £S 15/9. Bank of Xew Zealand shares sold at from 50/0 to 57/ and backto 50/9. Sales weie also made of Commercial Bank (Rights) at 8/3. Union Bank shares were transferred, prior to payment of the dividend, at £15 ]/. Sellers nor/ ask £14 14/ (ex div.) and buyers quote £14 11/. Inquiry is made at each call for Bank of Xew South Wales shares at £43 15/, but latterly no selling rate has been quoted. Insurance shares are in steady demand Xew Zealands sold at 3S/0. Nationals at 79/, and South British at 54/9, while, buyers of Standards advanced their offers to 48/, without sellers being disclosed. Government War Loan, i> per cent. 1927, sold at £98, and Colonial Suear Refining Company stock at £55 12/0. Buyers now offer £90 for New Zealand Loan and Mercantile ordinary stock, arid £77 is still quoted for preference issue. Auckland Hospital Board 5} per cent debentures sold this week at £98. Wilsons X.Z. Portland Cement shares are very firm, having sold this week at 30/. after which holders asked another shilling. Huddart-Parker Steam are wanted at 45/9. and Northern Steam at 15/. Sales of Auckland Gas took place at 23/3, and contributing issue changed hands at 8/7. Bycroft, Ltd., shares eased in price this week, being sold at 20/. Kaiapoi Woollen (ordinary issue) had transactions at 8/0, and afterwards at 9/3. Sales were made of Hikurangi Coal (preference issue) at 3/, and of Waipa Collieries at 16/.
