HELENSVILLE SHOW.

GREAT DISPLAY OF STOCK. ALL RECORDS BROKEN. SPLENDID MILKING SHORTHORNS. "It has been a great day, and one full of surprises," said Mr. Albert Hanson, president of the Helensville A. and P. Association, to a "Star" reporter, at the conclusion of the 2Cth annual show yesterday. "The result of our labours has been beyond all expectations," he continued, "and some new and important records have been put up for this great district of ours. There have been record entries of all classes of stock, as well as a record attendance. It is most gratifying to the association to see the manner in which the people in the district have responded on this occasion. We have been particularly pleased at the outside support given and to those exhibitors and competitors who have come from other districts —in. some cases far afield —we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks. The association is now in a position to go ahead with many schemes, which, for the want of finance, could not very well be accomplished previously." It was a great day for Helensville and district. Visitors who had attended many shows in other parts of New Zealand, were loud in'their praise of the arrangements generally, and the pro-, ducts of the Lower North. Competition was most keen, and, on occasions, judges were hard pressed to make a decision. Amongst the etock entries the registered milking Shorthorns were outstanding. When the aged cow and heifer classes were being paraded for competition, the judge, Mr. A. J. Melville, who judged at the Royal Show in Christchurch, said he had never seen such a splendid lot i of animals. During his travels throughout the country, it was his duty to inspect many animals, but for the type, utility and class, the milking Shorthorns at the Heleusville Show stood out above all others. In southern parts, it appeared that this particular breed were falling off, but north of Auckland, the reverse was evidently the case. It was plainly seen that the Helensville district was most suited to milking Shorthorns, and they did particularly well on the flats. He predicted a great future for the breed in the district. Jerseys were also prominent, and the Friesian entries were. good. • In regard to Ayrshires, however, this class of animal does not appear to find favour with breeders at Helensville. Discussing stock generally, with men in the line, the "Star" representative learned that the Shorthorn was most favoured on account of the animals being beef producers after their milking days were over.
