PUBLIC TRUST.
IMPORTANT DEPARTMENTAL SCHEME. TRAINING SCHOOL FOR OFFICERS. <By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. From the beginning of February," Tr?e Public Trust Office will commence an interesting venture in the training of its young employees. In the work of the Department, the requirements are specialised. The work is rather different from that found in most offices, where a knowledge of accountancy and bookkeeping is needed, and it has been the experience ot" the Public Trust that men trained outside are hard to adapt to the requirements of his department. Consequently a special school will be opened in the new Public Trust Office at C'hristchurch. with a permanent staff directly responsible to Wellington headquarters, to train cadets in accountancy, bookkeeping, trustee administration and the legal side of trusteeship. Thirty cadets have been selected from all parts of the Dominion, the competition for this opportunity having been keen. The director of training is Mr \ Bell formerly second assistant to the District Public Trustee at Wellington, and a qualified solicitor. A former Auckland officer. Mr. XleManua, a registered accountant, will have charge o f accountancy education, and Mr. Dickson. late ot the Invercargill oflico, will give in in business and administrative work. Practical work will also be done in the Christchurch district office Classes for the instruction of ' cadets had formerly l, ee n held by officers who earned out the.r ordinary duties in addition but the new development means intensn-e cducauon and the Christchurch school s serving the whole Dominion The rapid growth of Public Trustee husi ness warrants this development, wh eh wil greatly reduce the time equi 2 to tram fully qualified officers.
