Auckland i and Hadlee (West End. Timaru i had a most sensational finish. Hadlee led throughout and was 8 up at the eleventh head. On the final head, the twelfth, Hardley got a seven and won the match. At the end of the third round in Section P. Pilkington I Hamilton i and Hutchison (Dunedin i had three wins each to their credit. Pilkington had a fairly keen fight with Cave, whom he defeated by 32 points to 27. After the fourth round had been played Pilkington was at the head of the list with four wins and no losses. He next defeated Nichol. but there were only four points between them at the finish, the scores being 24 to 20. Pilkington placed the section issue beyond doubt in the fifth round, in which he met Buist. whom he had no difficulty in defeating by 2S 28 points to 13. Armstrong (Pukekohei went down to McLeod (Taieri i. after holding him for the first 16 heads. Thereafter the game was all McLeod's. and ended on the twentieth head in his favour, with the scores reading 211.">. Cooper, Minto and Walker tied for Section DD. Walker got the bye and the other pair played off a section tie. The game resulted in favour of Minto. who had a majority of l-> points to 11 at the finish. The post section stage of the championship rinks competition will bo started on the Dunedin green at 9 a.m. to-morrow. There are still 17 rinks left in the competition. The championship pairs competition will be advanced a stage further tomorrow, when several section winners will meet. The championship singles, in which there are still four players, left, will be continued on the Dunedin <reen at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
