THREE CHAMPIONS INVITED. WAITEMATA CLUB'S ACTION". —i It was recently decided by the Waitemata Amateur Swimirjing < lub no extend an invitation to a Sydney Club to send a team to Auckland, but the performances of the local men at the Auckland < hampionships led the committee to alter that decision, as it was considered that no Sydney Club could find five men strong enough to oppose live men from the Waitemata flub. It is now intended to invite F. Doyle, Dr. Kirklaud. and M. Christie, and the club is now awaiting sanction of its action by the New Zealand Centre. Doyle, who is still in his teens, placed himself among the best sprinters of tinworld by winning the 100 yds New South Wales championship last Saturday in oi 1-j.*. Dr. Kirklaud. who was second. represented Australia at tie l'.i'iU Olympic Games, and two weeks ajr> established a new Australian te.-ord of 70 2-"s for the 100 yds backstroke. ( hristie i- one of Austral a'- best distance men. and recently won the 440 yds and SSOyds New South Wales championships in "mi -13 -i-oi and llm 47 --Os res]ectively. It is anticipated that the Australians will arrive at Auckland on March 1-3.
