STORY OF A BICYCLE.
Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., had to deal with a i-ase this morning at the Magistrates' Court in wliicli the Official Assignee (Mr. L. F. Budd) sued Hugh Burn.ily Sparrow, who did not appear, to recover £2 7/ alleged to be owing to a bankrupt estate. The defendant, whose evidence was taken at Thames, stated he bought the bicyr-le from a man at Paeroa for £3 15/1. He paid a deposit of 15/, but before the balance was due, the police at Hamilton seized the bicycle, which had been stolen prior to it coming into the possession of the man from whom Sparrow purchased it. Defendant admitted in cross-examination that the police paid him £2 15/ in restitution, Judgment was entered for the plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs.
