BILOWN'S BAY.
(By STECLA M. CTABIDGB.) Silent stood we by the rocks, and bnr tjti were wonder-filled, As we watched the sunset glory of the red-gold western eky; And the steady, ceaseless foaming of the breakers seemed half stilled, ';" As the waters, gold and shell-pink, mhrored back the light on high. And upon the creamy sands the Uttle pooli the tide deserted. (As It shrank within Itself again, 'till changeful, mystic sea) ; ( By the magic of the sunset, showed themselves to be converted Into little sheets of glory, with a red-gold radiancy. To the westward, vague and misty, rising from the sea's caress, Sombre on this night of glory, lay the well-known, well-loved isle— Rangitoto—heavenly Island—lsle of dreims and happiness ! Reminiscent, gazing on yon then, perforce we dreamed awhile. But alas I the west had faded, and the evening air had chilled Even as we 'blinked an eyelid, even as we breathed a Blgh ; Silent stood we toy the rocks, and our heart! were mem'ry-filled, Aa we watched the woeful waning of tie wondrous western sky.
