COST TO COMMONWEALTH. DEPORTATION PROCEEDINGS. (Received 1 p.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. In the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister (Mr. S. M. Bruce) said that the total expenditure in connection with the deportation proceedings (Walsh and Johnson) amounted to £5130. Counsels' fees were £1850, and payments to members of the board £1995. The chairman was not paid.— (A. and N.Z.)
