MEATWORKERS' DISPUTE.

NO CHANGE IN POSITION. SLOW KILLING CONTINUES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. There was no change to-day in the position in regard to the trouble at the freezing works in Canterbury. The slow killing rate of one lamb every 1.3 minutes was continued at all the works, both aides apparently being determined not to give way. Inquiries from Mr. Wilkin. secretary of the Freezing Companies' Association, and Mr. Ellis, secretary of the union, elicited the information that no overtures had been made b)- either side with the object of arriving at a settlement of the dispute. Mr. Ellis, as secretary of the New Zealand Freezing Workers' Federation, received advice this morning that the butchers at the Picton works were now griing tlow.
