TRAGEDY AT HOWICK.
LITTLE BOY KILLED. THROWN FROM A GIG. A sad accident, resulting in the death of a child. William Dando, aged 5* years, occurred last evening, at Howick. Mrs. Dando.- mother of the child, was driving a gig along the road between HowifJ< and Whitford. With her were two other women and three children. The horse bolted suddenly and Mrs. Dando was thrown out of the vehicle. One of the other women tried to get hold of the reins, but before she could do so. the shafts broke, with the result that all the occupants were thrown to the road. Deceased was badly injured. Dr. Currie, of Otahuhu, was called, but the boy died before he arrived. An inquest was opened this afternoon by Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M.
