FATAL ACCIDENT.

DEATH OF MARRIED WOMAN. PINNED UNDER MOTOR CAR A fatal accident resulting in the death of Mrs. Emma Thorburn, a widow, aged (i 8 years, who resided at 40, Brighton Road, Parnell, occured about 0.30 o'clock in Newmarket last night. Deceased was knocked down by a motor car and succumber to her injuries in the hospital. Stepping off the footpath at Teed'a Pharmacy to board a city bound tram car, Mrs. Thorburn was struck by a. motor car driven by Mrs. R. T>. Rogers, of 5, St. George's Bay Road. The driver of the car endeavoured to avoid deceased and in doing so swerved into the gutter. Mrs. Thorburn was pinned under tha back wheel of the car. When admitted to the hospital she was found to be suffering from several fractured ribs and severe shock, and died about three hours later. . An inquest was opened this morning before the Coroner, Mr. J, W. Poynton, S.M., and, after evidence of identification, was adjourned.
