Sir George Elliot, chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealand, is visiting . Wellington. : Dr. D. A. J. Rutherford, superintendent of schools in Western Samoa, is on a visit to Christchurch. Mr. H. H. Young, income tax inspector, returned by the Niagara this week from a holiday visit to America. Grand Hotel guests include Dr. and Mrs. Carew and Mr. E. Milsted (Loudon) and Mr. M. Ornstein (Calcutta). Mr. L. Alfred Eady has left for the Dunedin Libraries Conference, at which he will be one of the City Council delegates. Mr. D. J. McAllum, of the Wellington staff of the Union Bank of Australia, is to succeed Mr. H. P. Semmens in Te Awamutu. Mr. J. F. Montague, of Auckland, has been appointed adjudicator of the elocution sections at Napier's annual competitions festival, to be held at Easter. Messrs. F. Ballin and E. P. Burn 3, of Auckland, who have been spending a fewdays in Wellington, have left for tlie South in continuation of their motoring tour from Auckland to the Dunediu Exhihition. Mr. and Mrs. P. H. McCallum (Hamilton), Mr. and Mrs. George Andrews (Hokianga), Mr. J. D. Mr. A. C. Armstrong Wellington) Mr. J. F. Dooley (Napier), and Mr. A. S. Grandfield (Invercargill) are at the Star Ho'el. The Director-General of Health (Dr. T. H. A. Valintine), accompanied by Mr. C. S. Allen, the Department's technical inspector, will leave Wellington on Monday night to inspect various institutions in the North Canterbury hospital district.
