FOURTH ANNUAL SHOW. ATTCKI.AND TOY DOG CLUB. | OPENED IN ORANGE HALL TO-DAY. When the fourth annual show of the Auckland Toy Dog Club opened in the 'Orange Hall, Newton Road, this morning, the benches were filled with over 60 pets of dogs, and cats of all kinds, sizes and conditions. Some of the tiny dogs iwere so small that they could easily be placed in the average ladies' handbag. Much attention had been bestowed on the pets by their owners, and for hours women sat by their charges and watched them as if they had been children. * ; j Taking it on the whole, this year's I show of living toy animals is just as jgood as in previous years, although the entries are somewhat below the_mun-j bers received previously. This is ac- . •counted for by the fact that the Toy I Dog Club gave their usual dates away to the Auckland Kennel Club, so that | 'the latter body could hold their annual i exhibition in the Winter Show buildings jat the' time of the visit of the American j fleet. I There are some beautiful representa- j J tives of the .pretty Sydney Silkies species 'as well as the Pekingese family, whichhad 14 present. j Pomeranians were in the majority, ' there being 30 of these pets paraded ibefore the judge, Mr. Norman Wade. , Cats in their pretty furry coats were j I represented by blue Persians, Persians j and Chinchillas. Some of the male , species were handsome animals," and i competition was keen. The show will be continued this evening and all day to-morrow.
