In accepting the rift the council decided that a letter o! thanks be sent to the donor. Regulations governing the scholarship which will be a post graduate one wfli be drawn up by Professor Riddet' awt will be submitted to the Professorial Board for report. The president of the council was last evening authorised to invest the capital in a local body security. With the object of establishing four scholarships in forestry, the firm of Smith, Wylie and Coi has donated fundi to cover a period of live years. The scholarships, which are of £100 each, will be known as the "Smith;Wylie Forestry Scholarships." At last evening's meeting of the College Councils when the offer was accepted with thanks, the registrar explained that £400 would be available each year for a period of. . five years. It was decided .that the matter be referred to the Professor of Forestry, to'make suggestions to the Professorial Board in regard to the nature of the scholarships. Mr. H. J. D. Mahon stated that the Court of Convocation was prepared to furnish the two reading rooms, of the students' block. A sum of about £100 would be available.
