TROUBLE IN MANCHURIA.
WARNING BY JAPAN. (Received 2 p.m.) TOKYO, December 8. Aβ a result of the theatre of hostilities nearhig the Japanese defence zone, the War Office announces the text of a communication which the commander of the Japanese Kwantung army expects to send simultaneously to the rival Chinese commanders fighting in Manchuria. After emphasising Japan's strict noninterference in the policy hitherto followed, the communication contains a warning that if the hostilities in the railway zone or the adjacent districts jeopardise Japanese livee or property, Japanese troops will be constrained to act. — (A. and N.Z.
