- The necessity for a new tug for the port was mentioned by the Harbour Board engineer in hie "Harbour Board improvement scheme. He stated that the tug Te Awhina would be quite inadequate to cope with the increase in shipping. She was 17 years old and might be expected to give at least 15 more years of useful service, but a new tug should be added to the port equipment at an early date".. Unless this was done by private enterprise the board would; require to make provision for it. ■• There were 53 remits considered at the annual conference of the Associated New Zealand Chambers of Commerce held at Dunedin on November 26. Seven of these came from Auckland and all were carried.
