PUBLIC BEQUESTS.
UNDER MR. W. J. NAPIER'S WILL. Under the will of the late Mr. W. J. Napier, the following bequests have been made to the various institutions undermentioned:— 1. Navy League, London, the sum of £50. 2. Royal Colonial Institute,, London, the sum of £50. 3. Auckland branch, Navy League, the sum of £23. 4. Auckland branch, Victoria League, the sum of £50, to be invested, and the income l to be applied once a year as a prize for the best school child's essay on the subject, "What Humanity Owes to the British Empire"; competition to be open to every child under seventeen attending any school in the provincial district of Auckland. : 5. Sisters of Mercy, Auckland, the sum of £50. j w 6. Auckland branch of the Plunket Society, for the preservation of child life,- the sum of £50. 7. Trustees of Dr. Barnado's Homes for destitute children, the sum of £50. 8. Victoria League, London,< to be 'paid to the committee of the Fresh Air Fund, for giving destitute children a ;week in the country, the sum of £50. 9. Devonport Rugby .Football Club, for a trophy, the sum of £25. ! "10. North Shore Rowing Club, for a trophy, £25. 11. Salvation Army, Auckland, .the sum of £50. : 12. ' Devonport Borough Council, to plant flowers along King Edward Parade, -the 'sum of £25. ' 13. Building fund of All Souls' Church, Devonport, 'the sum of £50. ■ 14. Devonport Borough Council, to provide seats for the public on Narrow Neck Beach, the sum of £25. 15. Takapuna Borough Council, to provide seats on Takapuna Beach, the sum of £50.'
