■ MACDONALD BEATS ELMOUS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Monday. r A £ t . er ,r a T^ Bom^ what: colourless contest Lachie Mac Donald, middle-weight champion ?£ N T?T,?. ei } land ' defeated Dick Elmour in the Exhibition Festival Hall in a 15-ronnds contest for a purse of £150. There was some hard hitting, especially by MacDonald,, but both used poor judgment, and their efforts were wasted in wud and ineffective swings. Mac Donald forced the fighting right through and connected far more frequently than his opponent. Elmour has an effective upper-cut, and his left swing connected well occasionally, but he lacked Mac Donald's hitting power. In the preliminary contest, Griffiths 8 8 Dunedin, beat Mark Carroll, 9.0, Wanganui in a 10-rounds contest for a pnrse of £50* Griffiths was the more clever boxer, and was too fast for Carroll.
