IN BEAUTIFUL WEATHER. INTERESTING RING EVENTS. WOOD-CHOPPING ATTRACTS. j Beautiful weather was experienced for i; the concluding stapes of the Spring Show < at Epsom on Saturday afternoon, j when there was a very large j : attendance. The many side shows | did a great business, and large | crowds visited the sheep and cattle pens and watched the grand parade of stock and the various interesting ring events,) ; all of which were very keenly contested. The wood-chepping competitions, which took place in front of the old stand on the trotting , course, were most popular, the stand being crowded for each event, while the winning axemen were heartily cheered. Similar remarks apply to the competitors in the Highland dancing. The judges for the chopping j wore the Rev. Wood and Messrs. W. Milne and W. H. Markovich. Mr. C. L. Hardy wns the handieapper and Mr. P. E. Thatcher starter, with Messrs. A. J. . Stratford and F. M. Waters as ' stewards. In the Highland dancing events the ' entries were large, and some spirited contests wore witnessed. In the senior. events Mi-s Ruby Phillips performed | excellently, carrying off the honours in I two of the throe dances. Miss Eileen ' Olson also performed well. Mr. H.
