A GREAT CONTRIBUTION.
A New Zealander who travelled to Europe some time ago reported that the one fact about our country in which interest was shown seemed .to be the work of Sir Truby King. This may be a shock to football enthusiasts, and those who imagine that the world is hanging upon our political developments, but it points to a very significant state of affairs. Every New Zealander who reads the newspapers at all intelligently knows something of Dr. King's work, but probably only a minority realise that the movement he started has spread not only to other parts of the Empire, but to foreign countries. It is New Zealand's chief contribution in tho present generation to the world's humanitarian effort. At the Conference of the Society for the Health of Women and Children, it was stated that to-day three women doctors representing outside Governments were studying at the Dunedin Karitane Hospital. We do not know of any other New Zealand establishment for research which attracts students from abroad. It is pomothiilcr to be proud of that this great lifepaving movement started in New Zealand, and that this country is regarded a 9 its centre.
