LABOUR AND "REDS."

I FOR OR AGAINST? p. r . (Received 2.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. There is much rumour regarding the alleged dissension in the Parliamentary Labour party over the Communistic issue, both among Ministers and the party, the rank of one section favouring cleansing the. party of extremists, the other opposing it as carrying the matter t°o far - One rumour is that the Nationalists attempted to bribe some Labourites in order to defeat the Government. This, however, is regarded as a ruse with a view, of closing up the Labour ranks. The Nationalist, leader ridicules the story. The Asseinblv has accepted the Council's amendments in the Forty-four Hour Bill. This is the first contentious measure where the House has shown any tendency to compromise wtih the Council. (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
